About Division Fiction

Hi, I'm Div. I've been writing for as long as I can remember.

I've always been beholden to the fictional worlds in my head, and as I grew older, they became more and more technological, and more and more grim. (So it goes.) Eventually, I found myself squarely in the cyberpunk category, thinking in high-tech low-life hacking exploits and the like.

My influences are as varied as anyone's; some particular favorites of note are the Hyperion series, anything Roger MacBride Allen, Shadowrun the tabletop roleplaying game, and Kazim Ali's The Far Mosque.

I'm also a programmer by trade — I know how silly and how dangerous computers can be.

I focus on the humanity of it all; what makes a story engaging to me is never the science or the technology, but the human decisions that power the plot. I'm fascinated by how our decisions can change the world around us, sometimes permanently.

I'm currently working on Paradise City, a novel about a post-future-war city that's become the epitome of capitalism. It features vignettes of average citizens faced with not-so-average decisions — and their consequences. It's currently in the drafting stage, as I'm mashing keys as fast as I can to get a full draft out.

Other works in progress include a book of selected poetry, and a solarpunk adventure about an all-powerful religion.
